The Story

How the collective formed

Resonance Art Collective began at Bamboo U, where our founding collaborators first explored bamboo as a structural and artistic medium. Years later they reunited around a shared commitment to art, architecture, bamboo, and community.

The project grew from Elliot's vision of the conch shell as a natural architectural form, which came to him during a sound healing at Burning Man.

What began as a design exploration became a collective effort to build immersive public art where structure, light, and movement meet, and the start of a broader vision to support artists working across architecture, ecology, and participatory art.

Resonance Studio is the practice that has grown out of the collective.

Elliot Fabri

Founder & Creative Director

Founded the collective and leads it from first sketch to raised structure. Project and camp lead for the Resonance Tree, with a background in construction through EcoCraft Homes.

Ed Wilkes

Artist & Engineer

Owns the structural story. Dimensioned drawings, connection details, shade calculations, and the safety culture that lets volunteer crews raise real architecture. Based in London.

Ben Eckart

Lighting & Controls Engineer

Robotics PhD and eleven-time burner. Runs power and electronics for the Resonance Tree camp; past builds include BRCTV (Burning Man’s first pirate TV station), GPS + LoRa wearable LED talismans, and wind-controlled lighting shows.
