Inside a woven bamboo structure built by the collective

The Collective

An artist-led collective that designs, engineers, and raises bamboo architecture. And the studio that grew out of it.

From a shell to a tree

The Resonance Art Collective began in 2024 with a drawing of a conch. A spiral bamboo shell you could walk into, ramp winding to a nest at its crown. That shell became our name, our logo, and our way of working: spaces you move through, not objects you look at.

Then came the Tree. Accepted for Burning Man 2026, the Resonance Tree pulled the collective across continents: structural drawings in London, lighting studies in Bangalore, master craftspeople prefabricating full-culm bamboo in Bali, and a volunteer crew raising it on the Nevada playa.

Resonance Studio is what that build taught us, offered as a practice: design, engineering, materials, and build delivery for anyone who wants to gather people under bamboo.

  • 2024: the collective forms around the Conch concept; the Resonance Network launches at resonancenetwork.org
  • 2025: the Resonance Tree is designed: reciprocal-frame trunk, lantern canopy, full-culm engineering
  • 2026: prefabrication in Bali; the container lands in Nevada City; the Tree rises at Burning Man 2026
  • Next: the Conch, at architectural scale, looking for its first home

Three people, one build record

Portrait of Elliot Fabri

Elliot Fabri

Founder & Creative Director

Founded the collective and leads it from first sketch to raised structure. Project and camp lead for the Resonance Tree, with a background in construction through EcoCraft Homes.

Portrait of Ed Wilkes

Ed Wilkes

Structural Engineer & Parametric Designer

Owns the structural story. Dimensioned drawings, connection details, shade calculations, and the safety culture that lets volunteer crews raise real architecture. Based in London.

Ben Eckart

Roboticist and Tinkerer, Microcontroller Controller, LED Lighter

Robotics PhD and eleven-time burner. Runs power and electronics for the Resonance Tree camp; past builds include BRCTV — Burning Man’s first pirate TV station — GPS + LoRa wearable LED talismans, and wind-controlled lighting shows.

Behind the three of us: a crew of builders, engineers, lighting designers, and artists across the Resonance Network.

The values under the structure

01

Art you inhabit

Immersive architecture changes people because they're inside it. We build spaces for gathering, ritual, and wonder. Never objects behind a rope.

02

Regenerative by default

Material choices are values made physical. Ours is bamboo: harvested like a crop, strong as steel in tension.

03

Collective craft

Every structure we raise is the work of many hands across many time zones. The collective is the point, not the byline.

Build with us

Whether you're commissioning a piece, joining a build crew, or bringing bamboo to your own project. The door is open.
