Bamboo art fit-outs for restaurants and hotels

Large sculptural bamboo for lobbies, atriums, dining rooms and bars: designed, engineered, shaped in Bali, and raised by the crew behind the Resonance Tree.

The Tree, brought indoors

Resonance Studio designs and builds large sculptural bamboo structures. Our first, the Resonance Tree, was made from 2.5 tonnes of bamboo grown and shaped in Bali and raised at Burning Man in 2026. The same design, engineering and crew are available for the inside of a building: a canopy over a lobby, a bar built in bamboo, a room re-skinned in poles, or a piece that stays for a season.

A canopy over the room

A ceiling-hung bamboo form over a lobby, atrium or dining room: the piece guests look up into. Designed with the owner, the interior designer or the art consultant, and engineered to ISO 22156:2021 by a chartered structural engineer.

  • Where: lobbies, atriums, double-height dining rooms
  • How it is bought: as the anchor commission, through your art consultant or designer
  • Engineering: ISO 22156:2021, a chartered structural engineer, drawings for your reviewer
  • Light: the Tree carries 150 lights; a canopy can be lit the same way

A bar built in bamboo

A freestanding bamboo bar, host stand or enclosure inside an existing room. It fits the fit-out budget and the fit-out schedule: components shaped in Bali, kitted, and raised by a small crew.

  • Where: restaurants, hotel bars, lounges
  • How it is bought: as part of the fit-out, with your designer or restaurant group
  • Made: components shaped in Bali, assembled on site
  • Material: treated, graded structural bamboo

A room re-skinned in poles

Bamboo poles wrapping the columns and ceiling of a concrete interior, so an existing room reads as a grove. Planned around the structure you already have, during a renovation.

  • Where: renovations of existing restaurants and hotel floors
  • How it is bought: with the owner and designer during the renovation
  • Engineering: each pole’s load path resolved and documented
  • Supply: direct-imported, treated, graded; no container-load minimums

A piece for a season

The Tree’s own logic: a structure that ships in one 26-foot box truck, goes up for a season, and comes down cleanly. For brands and groups with seasonal venues.

  • Where: beach clubs, pop-ups and seasonal venues
  • Delivered & installed: transport, build crew, and strike included
  • Rated: 90 mph wind, Exposure C, for open-air and semi-outdoor rooms
  • Comes back: a kit that comes apart and re-raises at the next site

What the engineering already answers, and what we settle per project

On record from the Resonance Tree

  • Designed to ISO 22156:2021 by a chartered structural engineer
  • Rated for 90 mph wind, Exposure C
  • 2.5 tonnes of Bali bamboo: treated, graded, exported and cleared for the US
  • Demounts into one 26-foot box truck
  • 150 lights

Open for interiors, settled with your reviewer

  • Flame-spread and fire rating of treated bamboo for US interiors
  • Seismic anchoring to an existing building
  • Local permitting for interior alterations

We say so up front, scope the answer with your engineer of record, and put it in the drawings.

A plan, a ceiling height, an opening date. We will come back with what bamboo can do there and what it takes to get it approved.
