Curved split bamboo arch limbs stacked at the fabrication yard

Components

The pieces a bamboo structure is made of. Poles, arches, rings, lattice, and light. Every photo is from the Resonance Tree's own fabrication floor.

From raw culm to finished component

We import and prefabricate the full kit of parts. Structural poles, split and laminated members, woven skins, and lighting. The same components we costed and built for the Resonance Tree. Browse the catalog below, then price a specific order on the pricing page.

Structural Poles

Full-culm bamboo is the backbone of every build. Petung (Dendrocalamus asper) carries the big loads at 100–120mm; Tali and Apus handle bracing and secondary structure at 60–90mm.

Every pole arrives treated against insects and rot, graded for diameter and straightness, and cut to length. Sold by the piece, in project-sized quantities.

  • Petung · Ø100–120mm · up to 8m
  • Tali / Apus · Ø60–90mm · up to 7.6m
  • Boron-treated, graded, cut to length
  • No container-load minimum

Splits, Laths & Arches

Sawn and split from full culms, then heat-formed over an open flame into the curves a gridshell needs. Single-split supports, double-split structural arches, and gridshell laths.

This is where straight bamboo becomes architecture. Every arch limb bent, faired, and matched to its place in the shell.

  • Gridshell split laths · 6m
  • Single- & double-split structural arches
  • Heat-formed curves, faired by hand
  • Renggang floor planks · 250 × 40cm

Laminated Rings

Bent-laminated structural rings. Thin bamboo splits glued and clamped in 6- to 12-layer stacks, up to 4.4 meters across. They set the geometry of the whole shell.

Made to order, steel-strapped, and pinned to a jig while the laminate cures. There is effectively no other US supplier of a piece like this.

  • Bent-laminated · 6 to 12 layers
  • Ø50cm up to Ø440cm
  • Steel-strapped at the splices
  • Made to order. Lead time on quote

Woven Panels & Lattice

The gridshell lattice and the plupuh woven panels that skin a bamboo structure. Split bamboo woven into diagonal grids and flat sheets, plus lidi rod bundles for lashing and detail.

Structure and enclosure in one material: the same lattice that carries load also filters the light.

  • Plupuh woven panels · black or blonde · 3m
  • Split-bamboo diagonal lattice
  • Lidi binding bundles · 6m · 26 rods
  • Screening, ceilings, and detail work

Lighting Components

Handcrafted bamboo lamp covers and laminated chandelier frames. The Bali-made pieces that turn the Resonance Tree into a canopy of light after dark.

Each cover is woven or turned from treated Tali; each frame is laminated to hold a fixture and hang from the structure above.

  • Handcrafted bamboo lamp covers
  • Laminated chandelier frames · 8-layer
  • Treated Tali, black or blonde
  • Made to order
